Latvia
Latvia is a member state of the European Union, located in the North Eastern part of Europe, on the coast of the Baltic Sea. It is one of the three Baltic countries. Latvia is a member of the Schengen Area. The country of Latvia is similar in size to that of Belgium, the Netherlands, or Switzerland.
Latvia is one of the most beautiful European countries. Washed by the Baltic Sea, Latvia has a 500-km long white sand seashore, which makes it a great destination for those who like beach holidays. Latvia's rich nature: forests, lakes, rivers and meadows, make Latvia the greenest point on the map of Europe.
Latvia's largest cities boast a developed and modern infrastructure. Cities have been made more attractive thanks to beautifully renovated historical architecture and development of new tasteful construction projects in the business and residential sectors.
Latvia's economy is very steady with a positive tendency to grow. Geographically, Latvia is well situated for the development of transit and industry. Latvia's main sectors of economic viability are: transit, wood products and exports, foodstuffs production, IT technology and software production, tourism and construction.
From the January 1, 2014, Latvia joins the Joint European Currency Zone (the Eurozone) and the Euro was introduced in Latvia.
